I WELCOME YOU
Greetings Readers,
My name is Monique Lewis
I am an Associate Professor of English and I teach Composition I/II (F2F and online) as well as English 253/254 African American Literature I/II fully online. I prefer to teach the Literature class online as many students who take online Composition show that they are not ready for such an intense experience.
A little about me, and I mean very little. I am both an only child and a middle child!!! THE HORROR!! I know. I have two parents who made very different choices. On a lighter note, I love shoes, shopping and shoe shopping. Imagine that.
I have been in education for over 20 years. I have experienced many trends. In fact, I have been caught in several transitions over the years, from licensing and how to teach teachers to that of teaching online. Regardless of the shifts, technology is truly enhancing my new direction. I love what I do and I will continue to do so.
The experience of blogging has given me new ideas as well as grave concerns about using it in my classroom. I see the benefits but I also foresee the hassle. Hence, my look of perplexity.

ReplyDeleteIt looks like would work well in your class. I too am nervous about starting one. I feel like one of the most important features is to set up a good set of guidelines for the blog so your students dont get themselves (or you) in trouble with inappropriate material and they also will likely feel more comfortable to post with the extra support.
I can see where blogs would work really well in your classes. I agree with you that we must change and move with technology!!
ReplyDeleteI agree, there have been many transitions in the evolution of teaching, but technology is always there. However I feel we have great jobs and I too love what I do :-)
ReplyDeleteI too think that blogs would work well in your class. Although I can see one minor problem, in my experience blogs are written to be less formal than say a formal college APA paper. However, I think they would be great for a personal journal. And who doesn't love shoes!
